When you have a decade of hits, it’s tough to play all the fan favorites, but Young The Giant delivered an unforgettable performance on Saturday night at PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ. As the third act on the Cage the Elephant Neon Pill Tour, they played to a packed house of 17,500, where they got attendees unfamiliar with their music swaying and rocking along.

Young The Giant, the third act of the night on Cage The Elephant’s Neon Pill tour, brought an eclectic sound, blending indie rock, pop, and a touch of soul, and was showcased throughout the evening.
They took flight opening with the dynamic and intense “Jungle Youth.” This song and performance exuded raw energy with its gritty guitar riffs, pulsing beats, and rebellion. It also set the stage for an hour of high energy and momentum.
The band’s setlist included a mix of tracks from various albums, offering a tantalizing glimpse into their extensive catalog. It included songs from Mind Over Matter, Mirror Master, American Bollywood, Home of the Strange, and their self-titled album. From “Cough Syrup” and “Apartment” to “Superposition” and “My Body,” they kept the crowd engaged and entertained.
Lead singer Sameer Gadhia’s performance was both enticing and endearing, as he danced and sang with infectious enthusiasm. He even added a unique sonic layer to various songs in the performance with the additional instrumentation from his guitar and mini MIDI box beats.
Gadhia also reflected on the band’s journey while celebrating the 10-year anniversary of their album Mind Over Matter. He underscored how stepping out of one’s comfort zone and embracing creativity can lead to success, with the album evolving into one of their most cherished works despite initial skepticism. This proved that taking risks can result in unexpected triumphs.
The band also took this time to give fans a treat with their new song “God As Witness” which was first played live earlier this summer. It has been getting great reviews from fans and the crowd Saturday night also responded enthusiastically to the new track.
The band concluded their set with their 2010 hit “My Body.”
Though many came for the headliner, Young the Giant proved they have a sound that not only captivates their dedicated following but also leaves new listeners craving more. Their set was a perfect blend of nostalgia and fresh sounds, leaving fans eagerly anticipating their next performance.
Standout tracks included “Mind Over Matter,” “Silvertongue,” “God As Witness,” and “Superposition.”
