Song the Day: “Hello” by The Max Tribe

Today’s song is “Hello” by The Max Tribe. The Massachusetts band came together in 2013 when vocalist and Nashville native Austin Max united with drummer Conner Kessler at music school in Boston.

For over a year they developed a psych sound playing around New England, their debut single “Tape Machine” featured on Sound of Boston as one of the top 5 releases of 2015.

Max and Kessler linked up with keyboard player Noah Lubert and bass player Rafael Minerbo in 2016, completing the intertwined charisma that became the group’s signature psych sound.

This track is off their recent LP entitled Retrofit. The album recently premiered on Earmilk.

The band is also currently on tour in support of the album, and will be making a stop in NYC this coming fall on September 9th at the Rockwood Music Hall.

After listening to this album it was hard to pick a song to feature, they are all so awesome! Their southern twang pairs perfectly with a soulful, psychedelic rock creating a tasty sound that reminds me of The Black Keys meets the Doors with with a dash of Johnny Cash.
