Song of the Day: “So Right” by Baskerville Jones

Today’s song is “So Right” by Baskerville Jones. The Los Angeles transplant originally hails from Nashville, Tennessee. Baskerville is known for her work as a background vocalist as well as touring and performing as a lead vocalist in the seven-member in the soul, jazz & funk fusion band The Rebirth.

Over time, she has acquired a slew of credits, thanks to her work with an eclectic mix of artists on stage and in the studio such as R&B artists Heather Headley and Chrisette Michelle, gospel artists Dottie Peoples & Richard Smallwood, international acts Arman Hovhannisyan and Harout Balyan.

Baskerville cites Sly Stone, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, and Yolanda Adams as musical influences. She has cultivated a sound that rolls together the folk/country twang of her hometown with the soulful roots of early rock n’ roll and the smooth sounds of R&B. What resulted is a beautiful, sweet, and  soulful stripped down serenade. This songstress is a fiery siren who will appeal to audiences wide and far.

This song is off her first solo project an EP entitled Mile 1 out on May 3rd 2016. The album shows her vocal abilities and a departure from her previous funk in her band The Rebirth.
