Today’s song is “The Game” by Crossroad Saints. This track is off the Indiana-based group’s latest album A Song of Your Own out now.

The band is made up of keyboardist Daryl Venable, Mike Slack (drums/percussion), and John Slack (bass). This trio has been playing together for decades together and in various bands. Their backgrounds bring an eclectic sound to their music.

They came back together in mid-2019 after having an 8-year sabbatical in Nashville. 2020 brought them into the studio to record this new album.

This song has some hooking guitar riffs. Its high-energy verses mixed with the low chorus riffs were something that stood out to me. When you listen to the lyrics it gives a look at how we tend to get caught up in the “game” of life pretending to be something else. It is a thoughtful and endearing track.
