Today’s song is “Lover Boy” by The Front Bottoms. Was so excited when I opened my email this week and saw a new track from one of our favorite bands.
According to the NJ band, it was a track that they had been working on before the pandemic. “We started working on ‘Lover Boy’ in 2019 and we decided it would be a fun song to play live on our upcoming tour. Hopefully, you all agree and enjoy the song.”
I have a tendency to love everything this band puts out so I may be a little impartial but I do think this track is something that will resonate with fans.
The song opens with organ melodies and crooning of “Woah, Woah” from lead singer Bryan Sella. Then the guitar and keys hit you with the opening verse. This song tugs at your heartstrings with the first few notes. It has a loving and infectious sound that we have grown to love from TFB. It will catch the ears of new listeners and also will be a hit among fans.
In other TFB news, the band is finally heading out on tour this year and I am super excited about seeing them live. The tour kicks off on September 14th at the College Street Music Hall in New Haven, CT. They will hit NYC’s Pier 17 on Sept 15th then they will make their way out west and wrap up back in their home state at the Startland Ballroom in Sayerville, NJ on October 24th (see a list of dates below).
The band will be supported by acts Oso Oso and Syndey Sprague.
