Today’s song is “Where Do We Go From Here?” by Beach Tiger. Once a collective project, Beach Tiger has now become the solo project of the Greenville, South Carolina musician Taylor McCleskey.

His musical influences include the likes of The Beatles, Tom Petty, John Mayer, David Gray, Eagles, Coldplay. He has turned these inspirations into a sound resonating with artists like Passion Pit, Real Estate, and Imagine Dragons.

This song is off his upcoming album Yenta due out May 21st via Southern America Records.

The song has a duality with one story lying underneath an outward facing love story. Beach Tiger explains,

On the surface, ‘Where Do We Go From Here?’ tells the tale of a relationship on the rocks, but if you dig deeper, you’ll discover a few extra layers. For me, I have always chosen to live my life in a bit of a bubble – ‘ignorance is bliss,’ if you will – but this year, both globally and personally, has forced me out of my ‘everything’s okay’ shell and shown me that the world is unpredictable, scary, crazy, exciting, and sometimes you have to walk THROUGH the fire rather than around it.”

There is always beauty in a song with a wide atmospheric positivity and dark thematics. It shows there can be good that comes out of bad times. And an answer will be found.

This exuberant alternative rock also seems to resonate well with listeners. He has garnered over 4.5 million streams and features on Spotify’s New Music Friday and Indie Pop playlists. He has also received accolades from various outlets including Atwood Magazine, Local Wolves, Post and Courier, and the Charleston City Paper.
