Today’s song is “You Won’t Be Seeing Me Around” by Elephants and Dogs. Also known for the mnemonic for memorizing guitar strings, Elephants and Dogs is the moniker of the Toronto-based artist Joe Narducci.
Joe got his start playing music in the clubs of Kingston, ON Canada, with his two bands Bo Welland and JIMBO. When Joe is not making music, he’s looking at pictures of cute possums and raccoons on the internet.
This is the title track off his debut EP out now via Look Up Records. Sadness can be a great inspiration for music and also a way to help get out of dodge. The theme of this track and the EP can be summed up by the lyric, “I hope my stormy skies don’t ever clear, cause they will be my ticket out of here.”
On ‘You Won’t Be Seeing Me Around,’ Elephants and Dogs began as a guitar and vocal demo, recorded one sonic layer at a time, and Joe tracked the majority of the instruments. Joe had some help from his longtime friend and musical partner Jack Davies, who contributed Bass on the title track and Pine Valley. Many artists inspired this EP, including Mac Demarco, Goth Babe, Crumb, Slowdive, and Radiohead.
The track features a dreamy shoe-gaze at its finest. Listen below and for more information check out his Bandcamp, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages.
