Song of the Day: “City of Dreams” by Airi Mori

Today’s song is “City of Dreams” by Airi Mori. The Los Angeles by way of Japan artist has been performing professionally since 2004. Born and raised in Nagoya, Japan, Airi started singing American pop songs at age seven–long before ever learning to speak English. A very serious student, she practiced music for up to six hours a day for over fifteen years and earned a degree in International Studies with honors from the prestigious Waseda University in Japan. She also studied in England for a year as an International exchange student at Royal Holloway, University of London. Wanting more music experience she enrolled and graduated from The Independent Artist Program and the Audio Engineering program at the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles. Here she gained experiences in music business, publishing, song writing, recording, producing, audio processing, and mixing.

This songstress effortlessly combines the best of pop influences like Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and Celine Dion and fuses them with the hard hitting Skrillex-like electronica to make some hard hitting bouncing pop-electronica.

This song has a refreshing and beachy vibe. It takes you on a journey to a world of fascination and excitement. It shows the line between the real and imaginary. It’s electronic drum lines paint a picturesque fantasy world that will make you feel you’ve escaped reality. “This song is a fairytale between reality and imagination. I wanted to capture a sense of magic and wonder in a fresh context that still felt timeless.” says Airi Mori. It’s a great song to make your Wednesday a little more fun.

This song was produced by Luis “Havits” Lopez. It is off her upcoming debut album Reason of Love, which showcases her writing, producing, mixing and performing talents.
