Want to hear some new great new music? Look no further than Lexis. Deriving from the Greek word, ‘Lexicon’ meaning “of or for words” is West Midlands born and bred Kimya Razavi. Not wanting to be confused with artists of similar names, Lexis was born.
With passion for and upbringing surrounded by music, she learned classical piano and guitar and raided her parents vinyl, playing Queen, The Carpenters and Fleetwood Mac who would evidently shape her vocal style. Though passionate about music, she instead embarked on a career in medicine. It was during her university studies that she decided to enter a songwriting competition just to see what happened.
She won the pioneering and innovative ‘Shure Songwriting Award’ for talented and aspiring singer/songwriters! Her original song, “Cupid’s Bow” struck a big chord with judge KT Tunstall who was instantly impressed with the young singer’s lyrics. That was it for Lexis! She decided to finally follow her real passion and enrolled at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance in London, widely regarded as one of Europe’s leading schools of modern music.
This song is her debut single, which she co-produced. It reflects on a past long distance relationship, which many of us can relate to. The track begins slower and quiet, it’s sublimely stripped back, highlighting Lexis’ vocals over beautiful orchestration which builds and builds to a stunning climax. You feel the emotion through her words and vocals and become transfixed in the music. “Flame” is out now and is working on an EP to be released this Winter. Looking forward to her new music.
