Today’s song is “Window to Nowwhere” by Andre Chrys. Andre Chrys is a singer-songwriter hailing from Vancouver, Canada. Chrys began his music career in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He toured extensively with various hardworking bands across Canada, playing clubs and festivals. Life, love and reality took him down a dozen different roads since then, and he is currently living on the west coast. His band consists of himself (vocals, acoustic guitar), Jeff Younger (electric/acoustic guitar, harmony/backing vocals), Bill Briscall (bass, harmony/backing vocals), and Mike Magnusson (drums).
This song is the title track on his upcoming Window To Nowhere album which will be out this October. Chrys said the inspiration for the name came literally from a window to nowhere in his out. “I have a room at home where I do most of my writing and recording. It has a window that looks out onto the wall of the house right next to mine. It’s East Van, and the houses are built really close to each other. I’m not even sure why they put the window in the room in the first place. It’s literally a window to nowhere. I’m trying to capture that desperate, out-on-a-ledge feeling you get when the walls are closing in around you. I’m sure that most people who live in shoebox-sized digs in Vancouver can relate.”
Chrys digs deep with his own take on the classic sounds from rock, pop, Americana, blues, and soul. His mix of acoustic and electric guitars make for alluring and magical music that can appeal to a wide audience.
