Today’s song is “I Hope You’re Well” by Violet Night. This duo hails from Chetwynd, British Columbia and consists of Connor Pohl (vocals, guitar) and TJ Rounthwaite (piano, synth). The formed in 2014, however, Pohl has extensive touring experience with his other band, City Light Vigil, sharing the stage with Carly Rae Jepsen, Down With Webster, The Trews, Trooper, Phil X and the Drills at the Whiskey A Go Go in
Hollywood.
This song is the title track off the band’s debut record out earlier this month. Their music is alluring, lush, dark, and ambient. The piano rock melodies first grab you; then with their swift indie rock vibes the listener is hook, line, and sinkered wanting more. The music is ethereal and aesthetically pleasing. It reminds me of Brand New’s The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me. Fans of Brand New and Death Cab for Cutie are sure to get into this sound.
