ESBMusic’s Week at CMJ

CMJ is a week to experience NYC and find new bands. It was a whirlwind of music and ESBM was excited to be a part of it. We reveled in all the fun and saw some great acts. See below our highlights from the week.

Calling All Cars
Australia is known for having some great artists and this band is no exception. They rocked the Delaney hard on Saturday. The thing that grabbed me the most was the fun this band was having. Lead singer Haydn Ing got the crowd going when he jumped in the middle of the floor with his microphone stand and started rocking out. This band has a killer liver performance and a rock sound that is pretty awesome. For more information check out the band’s official website and Facebook page.

Nude Beach
This Brooklyn trio by way of Long Island is comprised of Chuck Betz (vocals, guitar, piano), Jim Shelton (bass), and Ryan Naideau (drums, percussion, vocals). The band fuses the best of guitar and pianos to create a feel good Springsteenesque vibe. Their music is an excitable and energetic blend of modern rock infused with the classics of 60s and 70’s classic punk. DMA’s
DMA’s was a popular artist to see at CMJ this year. After two failed attempts of seeing the band due to being overcapacity, we were determined to see the Australian trio. Finally able to catch their act it was evident why there was such a demand to see this band. Their engaging stage performance consisted of a hypnotic and catchy melodies. Their lovely guitars are paired with heartfelt, emotive lyrics. This For more information check out the band’s official website and Facebook page.

Cheerleader
We stumbled upon this Philadelphia based group at Union Pool Friday night. Like their name, this foursome makes cheerful, dreamy, pop that got the crowd going. Their delightful music features great indie rock riffs and effervescent pop melodies. For more information on the band check out their official website and Facebook page.

Dune Rats
This Brisbane, Australia trio creates some fantastic surfer garage rock. These self-described “hyperactive stoner cunts” put on a high flying and fun show. Their upbeat riffs compliment their cheerful, high-energy exciting stage presence. For more information on the band check out their Facebook page.
