Ramsey is a trio that will rock your soul and capture your heart. Comprised of Nick Allen (guitar/vocals),
Chris Hampton (bass), Dominick Good (drums), the Knoxville, TN trio left everything behind to start their full time music career, in Boston, MA. 2013 was a big year for them. They were signted to SwitchBitch Records and released their first EP entitled, You’ve Got A Lot of Heart, Kid out now.
Ramsey assembled in July of 2012 when Alex and Chris who were in two separate bands ended up at the venue that Nick had booked shows at. They all hit it off, began playing music and it was none other than their first show that got the attention of musician, studio, and label owner Michael Abiuso who immediately brought them up to Boston begin working with them.
The boys put their own touch on this music. Meshing the best of punk, alternative, and rock, this band creates a powerful and unique sound with influences from bands like Bayside to Four Year Strong.
ESBMusic sat down with the band to talk about their influences, spending time in Boston, and their new EP.
ESBMusic: What influences your music?
Ramsey: Mostly day to day events and dramas that your average person deals with. I see us as a lyrically driven band, and that just spurs from things that we all go through with on a daily basis.
ESBMusic: How did you all come together?
Ramsey: We met in Knoxville, TN through other bands. Nick ran a venue and then plucked Chris and Alex from other local bands. Started writing, recorded, and then it became know as Ramsey.
ESBMusic: Your debut EP You’ve Got a Lot of Heart, Kid just came out this year. What can fans expect of it?
Ramsey: We had a lot of fun with the EP, but we’re excited to record our full length this Summer. We hope to have that recorded by August.
ESBMusic: How has the experience in Boston been? Does it compare with your hometown?
Ramsey: Boston is one of the greatest cities in the world and we’re really fortunate to be living here and doing what we love. While we all miss certain things about places we’ve lived or grew up, life is about these experiences of traveling and seeing different things.
ESBMusic: Any last words?
Ramsey: Thanks for supporting Ramsey.
