Today’s song is “Hey Maria” by Deer Park Avenue. The Sacramento, Cali rock duo consists of sisters Sarah (guitar and vocals) and Stephanie Snyder (drums and backing vocals). The girls have been jamming together since they were kids, but it wasn’t until about two years ago that they started the band. Since forming, they have toured throughout the US and Europe and have had their music featured on

This single is off their latest release entitled Stop & Go which was produced by Matt Bissonette (Brian Wilson, Rick Springfield, Ringo Starr). The girls have a retro rock/pop sound that has been described as “Girl Weezer” or “Paramore covering the Beach Boys.” They have been compared to Green Day, Metric, and Jimmy Eat World. Their sound is an eclectic, alternative rock that reminds me of the greatness of the early nineties. It is simplistic, high energy, and melodic. This duo has an older influence with a great new rock edge that makes for some awesome music.
