I didn’t know what to expect for the show. One thing I have to say is that there’s certainly nothing wrong with going retro. Lily & The Parlour Tricks took us way back into the 60;s, or possibly 50;s, during their performance at the Brooklyn Bowl on 3/28.
It seemed to me that lead vocalist, New Yorker Lily Claire, along with her band mates/back-up singers, not only handled time travel without effort, but rather with great sass. The band takes us right to the early 60’s, showering us with only the decade’s utmost feel-good melodies. The tunes made me want to just dance like there was no one around to see.
There were a moment or two of sadness when Lily and her entourage slows it down for a change. The ones your parents could have easily appreciated and cherished during their school dance.
