The National Underground is a website that films and records live sets of your favorite punk rock bands and posts them for free online. Some of the bands they have worked with include Against Me!, None More Black, Dillinger Four, Paint It Black, Dead To Me, Small Brown Bike, Avail, and many many more. See some of the videos and download some of the recordings on their website.
This year they are making the trip to the Harvest Of Hope Fest with their crew to endure three packed days of filming, audio recording, and, if they have time, partying. Last year was a huge success and resulted in a lot of their recordings being added to this year’s Harvest Of Hope Compilation CD.
The draw back of doing all of the work for free is that the funding for equipment, travel costs, and more rests on on the foundation. Their entire crew is made up of volunteers and they would like to make sure they are fed and have somewhere to stay while working for the weekend. So, with the help of Buffalo’s Failures’ Union who recently launched their own project, they have established a Kickstarter account to raise funds to support our crew at Harvest Of Hope.
Their fundraising goal is $1,000 which they will split with the Harvest Of Hope Foundation, a nonprofit charity organization that provides educational grants, scholarships, emergency financial assistance, and service oriented aid to migrant and seasonal farm workers. In exchange for donations, they’ll be giving away unreleased material for download, t-shirts, CDs, tickets, and more. To sweeten the pot, their friends over at Fat Wreck have donated extra goodies for the fundraiser. Anyone who pledges will be entered to win one of the following:
Autographed copy of: NOFX – Coaster, Strung Out – Agents of the Underground, No Use For A Name – Feel Good
Record of the Year, Leftover Crack – Fuck World Trade
Rare vinyl: Me First and the Gimme Gimmes – Denver 7″, NOFX 7″ of the month club #5 and #6
Autographed posters from: The Loved Ones, Strike Anywhere, Dead To Me, Teenage Bottlerocket, No Use For A Name, Strung Out
Silk screened show poster: The Loved Ones/Smoke Or Fire/American Steel show in NYC
A copy of Wrecktrospective
To further promote the fundraiser and the upcoming festival, they’ll be conducting Twitterviews with Off With Their Heads, Small Brown Bike, and The Menzingers- who are all playing Harvest Of Hope.
So, you’re probably asking, what the hell’s a Twitterview? A Twitterview, simply put, is an interview conducted over Twitter. Fans “follow” both the band and National Underground to watch the interview unfold as it goes live tweet by tweet on their homepage. The first Twitterview is scheduled for Thursday February 11th at 7:30pm EST with Off With Their Heads. Tune in to read about the band signing with Epitaph, their forthcoming record, and all the touring they’ve done throughout 2009 and into 2010. The Small Brown Bike and The Menzingers interviews are set for Thursday February 18th at 7:30pm EST and Thursday February 25th at 7:30pm EST respectively.
