This week there are a ton of events going on for CMJ throughout the city. Tonight I went to the Paste Magazine event at the Redbull Space downtown. I wanted to get there to see the first band, but unfortunately, I had a meeting that ran late and didn’t get to meet up with my friend until like 8:30. So we only got to see a few of the bands playing.
I have been at the event space before and was curious to see how it was going to be set up because the space wasn’t that large. We had gotten there in time to see the 2nd and 3rd bans; Women and Takka Takka.
Takka Takka hails from Brooklyn and Queens, NY and Women is from Albert, Canada. I didn’t get a chance to listen to the bands before the show but I liked both of these groups. While, Women was nice to listen too, it was a little mellow for a live show. Takka Takka was more upbeat.
It was awesome to be able to see new music for free and there was a bar with free drinks. After Takka Takka played we were contemplating staying for the last band but it was getting late and we were really tired so we lef early.
The festivities continue for the rest of the week and I gotta rest up for them. I’m looking forward to Here is the line up for the rest of the week at the space.
