Today’s song is “Merry Christmas Everybody” by SLADY. SLADY is the world’s only all-female Slade tribute act.

In 2020, the band lost their manager, Dave Kemp, to COVID. Once they could, they recorded “Merry Christmas Everybody” for charity as a tribute to their friend.

The video that accompanies the track shows the SLADY gang descending on The Wenlock Arms in Islington in October armed with tinsel, trees, baubles, and a DJ! The locals thought they were crazy… The premise was about having fun with an added hint of nostalgia – who doesn’t love the Slade Christmas song??

Filmed by Jason Read, the video shoot included a group of die-hard Slade fans who were going to see the boys play way back in the 70s and 80s. The SLADY girls hope that the release of the newly recorded version of this classic will appeal to Slade fans young and old and help to spread the magic of this truly iconic band.

Their follow-up single “Slade for Life – Not Just For Christmas”’” will continue to promote the idea that Slade was a force to be reckoned with and was way more than just a Christmas song. SLADY plays a wide range of Slade material – not just the hits but also more obscure tracks and B sides – but everyone is a real banger!
