Today’s song is “For the Love of Life (feat. Teon Gibbs)” by Chin Injeti.
Injeti is a three-time Grammy winner and two-time Junos winner. He is a producer and sound creator behind artists including Dj Khalil, Eminem, Drake, Aloe Blacc, Dr. Dre, Pink, J Cole, Anderson Paak, and Joey Badass, Raury, Big Kritt, ASAP Rocky, and The Clipse.
This month he released a track that is featuring Teon Gibbs that paints a picture of how women of color are mistreated in society.
He says of the track “women are the vital backbone of the family unit. They are the givers of life… when we disrespect them, we disrespect life. A significant lyric is ‘teach them to say your name the right way.‘ When I was young, no one even tried to say my name properly. With so much history and heritage attached to these names, one shouldn’t have to beg for that common courtesy.
A beautiful music video accompanies the track celebrating women some of whom he considers family as well as those he does not even know. One thing they have in common is they have had a profound effect on his life. Hearing their stories as women of color were mindblowing. Injetic calls them “strong, resilient, dignified, beautiful inside & out with stories that truly humbled and inspired me.” The track and video show his gratitude and how they are making him become the best man he can.
This is a heartfelt and warming sentimental track featuring hot beats, smooth piano melodies, and a strong important message.
