Song of the Day: “Out Of Breath” by Wave Break

Warehouse of Band set up with Amps drums, and guitars with the words "Wave Break" and "Out of Breath" | Eat Sleep Breathe Music
Today’s song is “Out Of Breath” by Wave Break. The New Jersey group consists of Kelly Barber (vocals/guitar), and Ken Rapsas (bass).

Fueled by experiences with recent lineup changes amongst other career roadblocks, the name Wave Break is an inspiration from the challenges they faced as a band and their adversity to keep moving forward.

Barber and Knightly prove that nothing can triumph over pure perseverance. When Wave Break burst onto the scene in late 2017, they very quickly found themselves gaining support from outlets such as idobi Radio, New Noise Magazine, and Alternative Press.

Wave Break has shared the stage with bands and artists including Boys of Fall, Nick Thomas (The Spill Canvas), Secrets, and Kulick.

Wave Break established themselves with their debut 2018 EP Armory by spreading messages of strength and vitality, living up to their name.

“Out of Breath” is the latest track from the Garden State group. The song is a personal release for Barber. It depicted the frustration she was going through while the band underwent multiple lineup changes since their debut EP release.

She says, “Out of Breath is about a general feeling of desperation after friends let you down or things go wrong, and wanting to come out stronger on the other side. Wave Break had some of those experiences after our EP came out in 2018 and we put that inspiration into this song.”

A video put out by Ghost Killer Entertainment accompanies the release showing the band’s high energy and an emotionally charged peformance by Barber.

The boisterous pop-punk track quickly rose to become their fastest-streaming song on Spotify.

With their strong melodies, Wave Break proves they have can rock hard but still have an emotional side. They are one part Paramore with a bit of Taking Back Sunday and The Spill Canvas all rolled into one.

Wave Break is among one of the great acts coming out of the Garden State and we see them in it for the long haul.

The band will be touring this month in New Jersey (see dates here). Listen below and for more information on Wave Break check out their official website, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter pages.
