Song of the Day: “Lily” by The Ghost and the Crown

Today’s song is “Lily” by The Ghost and the Crown.

The Ghost & The Crown began as a bedroom project of vocalist/guitarist, Ryan Regina, dating back to early 2012 while residing in Myrtle Beach, SC. Frustrated with being unable to find like minded musicians, Regina put the project to bed until a relocation back to his home of Long Island, NY and meeting bassist Timothy Dillon via Facebook in late June of 2015.

Regina and Dillon made plans to meet at a local bar in Patchogue, NY to converse on music, influences and their purpose for seeking other musicians. Hitting it off, Dillon mentioned a close friend and drummer, Joe Daconto, who had been looking to play in a new band. Shortly after, Regina, Dillon and Daconto, met at a local practice space in early July to see how they would mesh. It was clear from the start that the three were a great fit and quickly began to write and structure songs for what would eventually become the “In Memoriam” EP.

With goals of carving out their own unique sound, while also paying homage to their respective musical influences, Regina, Dillon and Daconto soon felt that they were sonically missing something within the band. Dillon and Daconto suggested a mutual friend and agreed to reach out to guitarist Scott Stephani, to inquire if he would be interested in completing the line up. After a quick audition and an offer to join the band, Stephani agreed and thus the current incarnation of The Ghost & The Crown was born. During a weekly practice, the discussion of naming the band took place. With a lack of ideas circulating at that moment, Regina suggested the name of his old project, “The Ghost & The Crown”. Finding the name unique and enjoying the coinciding concept that came along with it, the four members mutually decided to adopt the name.

This band has a soothing and pleasing melody paired with sweet vocals that feel like a cool summer breeze.
