Today’s song is “I’m Glad Trouble Don’t Last Always” by Luke Winslow-King. The New Orleans-based artist is back with his fifth album. Drawing from a deep, dark creative well, turning heartbreak and divorce into an inspired soundtrack for picking up the pieces.
This song is the title track off his new album out via Bloodshot Records on September 30.
The song premiered on Consequence of Sound calling it “steeped in the muddy Delta blues, but prickles with the raunch of a more Mid-Western take on the genre. While never veering too far away from the roots which have always inspired Winslow-King, a bleeding blowout at every bridge signifies a man who’s found himself electrified by his new conditions in life.”
The track is a hauntingly southern inspired gem. You hear heartache in his words but music in his soul. While he has suffered a great deal of loss, he has experienced a spiritual redemption that never sounded so good.
