Today’s song is “Queen Of The Sea”by Surviving The Era. The Sacramento, California based group is comprised of Jake Cooley (Drums), Kevin Cortez (Guitar), Seth Borges (Bass / Vocals / Keys), Ryan Sollom (Vocals), and Kyle Newton (Guitar).
Surviving the Era hit the scene in November 2014, in support of long time heavy hitters Emery and The Classic Crime at the iconic Sacramento venue, The Boardwalk.
Since then they have played nearly 100 shows at festivals, in auditoriums, venues large and small, and house shows all over Northern California, supporting acts such as He Is Legend, Oleander, Stroke 9, Must be the Holy Ghost, Children 18:3, and Burn Halo.
They are influenced by everything from early Punk Rock to Top 40’s. With their music Surviving the Era strives for something that will connect with listeners.
“We put our hearts into every song we write, and our ultimate hope is that people can connect with it and gain new perception of these songs as they move through their journey in life,” says Seth Borges.
They have be compared to the likes of Thrice, Lostprophets, Paramore, and Anberlin. This reviewer thinks they have a kicking bass line and great melodies that balance a great mix of equal parts emo and screamo.
This song is off their from their upcoming Sophomore release Parallax out on June 18th.
The official music video for the track originally premiered on PureGrainAudio.
In support of the album the band will be having a CD release party at Sacramento’s “First Festival” on June 18th, 2016 at Southside Park in Downtown Sacramento. Get tickets here.
