Song of the Day: “Amnesia” by Bloom Twins

Today’s song is “Amnesia” by Bloom Twins. The London-based sister act, consists of 19-year-old identical twins, Sonia and Anna Kuprienko. Born and raised in a small town outside of Kiev in the Ukraine, the pair were
both classically trained, becoming accomplished musicians and singers at an early age.

Aside from music the girls were also signed to Select Model Management in 2013, the same year they released their first track “Fahrenheit” on YouTube.

Following the release in early 2014 of a politically-charged cover version of the classic Bob Marley track “Get Up, Stand Up,” in sympathy with the national uprising in Ukraine, the girls were featured on BBC’s Newsnight with Jeremy Paxman, and graced the pages of the UK’s national broadsheet newspapers.

As a result, they decided to leave the political turmoil at home behind and move to London where they were able to pursue their music.

Throughout 2014 Bloom Twins continued to build their online presence releasing a string of new songs and videos, which generated big social media attention. They also performed at a series of exclusive live events from The Great Escape to Hermes’s Flaneur Experience in London, Heart Ibiza, the Summer Series at Somerset House, and the iconic Ronnie Scotts.

They finished the year as the opening act for Duran Duran on their Paper Gods UK arena tour, which included a stunning performance at The O2 in London. Duran Duran’s Nick Rhodes was so impressed by the twins that he has produced the majority of their forthcoming debut album.

This double threat duo is back with their latest single “Amnesia” off their upcoming LP due out later this year.

The song has been described as dark pop fusing their classical background with contemporary elements of electronica and piano, flute, and harmonica melodies. What they have created is an intriguing sound. These girls have crafted hauntingly morose and deviant melodies paired with distinguishing vocals that would be appeal to fans of indie and electronica pop.
