Song of the Day: “Autonomy” by The Infinite

The Infinite
Today’s song is “Autonomy” by The Infinite. The Infinite is the solo project of metal rocker Drew Shepherd. It began as his metal band Prescient began to break up in 2015.

Drew’s history in performing heavy metal started at age 24 forging a solid ten year existence in the Australian metal scene having been in the line-up for such bands as Fractious (drums), Vespers Descent (guitar), Reflections of Ruin (guitar/drums), Underground Hound (drums) and Prescient (guitar), but more recently Make Way For Man (Guitar) which will be releasing new material and touring extensively later this year.

This solo project is an outlet for Drew’s musical creativity to flow without anyone standing in his way. “With a band you have to be flexible and use ideas from all people involved and it can be tricky for everyone to be happy,” Drew says. “With this project it’s literally me only having to keep myself happy. I feel I can do anything musically and there is no boundaries and that gives me inspiration to write.”

This is the debut song from the Australian group. Shepherd took the unused material from Prescient and self-recorded the drums, guitar, and bass for this single. It was released earlier this month and has had the music blogosphere abuzz with accolades.

‘Autonomy’ is just a taste of what’s to come from The Infinite. In late 2016, Drew will release the debut EP which will see some collaborations from other musicians from prominent heavy bands In Australia. There will even be some vocals on a few of the tracks as well as guest drummers and guitarists.

His slamming guitar rhythms pulsate for some heart pounding metal. This track has a high voltage of metal that will rock your Monday.
