Today’s song is “Holy Fool” by John Dillon. This Seattle, Washington group is comprised of Dillon Sturtevant, Jeff Lane, Tyler King, and Clay Mahn.
The music of this band reflects the culminating experiences of Sturtevant: life-changes including a move from the east coast out to Seattle. After coming together with the rest of the band they were finally played live and the music was born.
This Emerald City 5-piece takes the simplicity of three chords to make a definite impression on the listener. I liken them to a male best coast with brazen and lush guitar melodies under emotive lyrics. Their smooth lo-fi track that is the perfect soundtrack to this lazy and dark day.
This is the newest single from the band’s debut album The Lost Estate. It is off the new Seattle imprint Plume Records following a cassette release late last year on Never Anything Records. The album was recorded and mixed by Andy Meyer in Seattle and mastered for vinyl and digital by Carl Saff in Chicago.
