Song of the Day:  “Everything” by Swerve

Swerve
Today’s song is “Everything” by Swerve. Swerve is the brainchild of Los Angeles based songwriter Gregory Mahdesian. Music is a lifelong passion of Mahdesian and he first starting making his guitar music under Swerve back in 2011.

Next came his first group known as The Simple Pleasures. Greg assembled this band to play the tunes he’d been hearing in his head for so long. They recorded an EP in late 2014 with producer (and future-bassist) Brandon Duncan in Santa Monica’s Apogee Studios. The Simple Pleasures knocked out an impressive 6 songs in 2 days but the band drifted – finding themselves in different parts of the world – and the EP was never to be released under their name.

That is, until Gregory found his bandmates in what is now Swerve. The group known today was formed originally in early 2015 with drummer Casey Baird, guitarist Ryan Berti, and bassist Brandon Duncan.

The songs Mahdesian started writing back in 2011 came alive with the completion of Swerve’s self titled EP that just dropped this past week. The band has a lovable sound that ties the best of guitar rock heavy with 90’s Brit Rock. Fans of The Replacements, REM and Oasis will dig Swerve’s tunes. The quartet is working hard to get their music out in the LA music scene and beyond. Take a listen and you’ll be sure to add them to your playlist.
