Song of the Day: “The Rope” by Bitter’s Kiss

Today’s song is “The Rope” by Bitter’s Kiss. Behind Bitter’s Kiss is the Weehawken, New Jersey singer/songwriter Chloe Baker. Having grown up in a home where her father maintained a studio, guitar collection, and a band, Baker is no stranger to music. She has been active in musical theatre and started Bitter’s Kiss as a way to showcase her talents.

While she is only a teenager, Baker has an innate musical ability that is well beyond her years. This songstress is hauntingly brilliant. She uses music as a way to express her exploration of the world. This track examines her feelings about the suicide of a distant cousin from a very religious background and the importance of staying true to one’s identity and finding something personally significant to make life meaningful. Her music evokes a melancholy and sends chills down the spine with her hypnotic melodies and ethereal vocals. “The Rope” is off her new self titled record out now.
