Song of the Day: “Little Miss Sunshine” by Carlton

Song of the Day Little Miss Sunshine by Carlton

Today’s song is “Little Miss Sunshine” by Carlton. The band consists of Richard Wynne (guitar/vocals), Brian Jones (bass/BG vocals, and Brendan McCusker (drums/BG vocals). Carlton is an Alternative Pop trio based in Los Angeles. They started playing together in 2009 under the name Mercury in Summer in the Washington, D.C. area where they all grew up. They formed a strong musical bond over the years adopting a DIY mentality, self-producing and releasing 5 separate EP’s. They were able to work with some heavy hitters in the music industry including jam-band legend John Molo (Phil Lesh and Friends, John Fogerty, Moonalice), engineer/producer Ross Hogarth (Jimmy Eat World, Sick Puppies, Van Halen), and engineer/producer Dave Way (Michael Jackson, Paul McCartney, Spice Girls). Eventually, the group decided to relocate the group to the west coast for a fresh start in a new location under a new name. Carlton.

This song is off the band’s upcoming debut Stretching will be out on this month. The LA based by way of DC trio has a bouncing, alterna-rock that is super sweet and popalicious.
