The Vaccines ‘What Did You Expect From the Vaccines?’ Album Review

London-based The Vaccines are one of those up and coming indie bands. Their debut album What Did You Expect From The Vaccines? went to #4 on the UK charts. Formed last year, the band has already opened for Grammy winners Arcade Fire, and the Arctic Monkeys.

One of the singles “Norgaard,” has a Ramones kind of feel to it. The guitar is very poppy, but still has that indie vibe to it. It makes you want to dance around your room. “Wreckin’ Bar” is another single that makes you wanna get up and move around.

The Vaccines aren’t all about getting up and dancing around, though. “Post Break-Up Sex” is a single that can put you right into a trance. Its upbeat enough to keep you awake and listening, but the synthesizer on the guitar has an echo effect of sorts that just makes you lose your mind.

The Vaccines are the cure for the British music scene. Lately, all you’ve been getting out of Britain is metal bands that all sound the same. The Vaccines aren’t those typical bands. These guys sound like they’ve been around for several albums, not just one.

The Vaccines are going to get the British music scene back on track here in the states. With this album, they have definitely done it. There are so many songs like “All In White,” “If You Wanna,” “Under Your Thumb,” and many others that just kick butt. This album is a lot of fun to listen to and I’d recommend it to anyone who is a fan of music.
