Chicago’s Smith Westerns released its sophomore LP, Dye It Blonde, on Fat Possum on Jan. 18. The record was produced by Chris Coady (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, !!!, TVOTR, Beach House, etc.) in New York City. The band has already won wide acclaim based on its self-titled debut, originally released in 2009 via the Chicago label HoZac while all of the band members were still enrolled in high school. The band just wrapped a European tour with MGMT, and this week launches a massive US tour – the first leg of the tour is with Fat Possum labelmates Yuck who are over from the UK for the first time.
