Today’s song is “Burn It Down” by Oedipus. This is LA alternative/progressive rock power trio made up of Jeremy Haffner (bass and lead vocals), Stephen Cohen (guitar and vocals), Keith Larsen (drums and vocals) came up with their name while studying the Greek Tragedy in their middles school Latin class at the tender age of thirteen. As Haffner stated in a recent interview with ASCAP, “The symbolism, and relative shock value definitely had something to do with the choice. Also, it’s a great sounding word”.
Oedipus has recently launched a specialty radio campaign with US radio promoters UNCLE and has seen both singles “Tres Las” and “Burn It Down” added to regular rotation on Los Angeles tastemaker Indie 103.1, KROQ’s Locals Only program, KUSF in San Francisco, and KMFA Tucson. The band has also secured many licensing opportunities from their previous records, 2005’s Humbility and their 2008 EP, Covetous. They have had placement in Lion Gate Films’ 2010release Circle of Pain, major motion picture The Contractor, as well as the Showtime series Masters of Horror.
With the first introduction of guitar riffs you can hear that you are in for a musical treat. The song is an exhilaration of melodious, powerful and grinding rock that puts a smile on your face and will have you singing along in no time.
