NEW YORK, NY – June 21, 2010 – CMJ Music Marathon has announced a partnership with the two-time Tony Award-winning hit production of Green Day’s American Idiot for its 2010 Music and Film Festival, held October 19 – 23 in New York City. As part of CMJ’s panel programming, American Idiot will be featured in a signature event including cast members and the musical’s Tony Award-winning maestros, director Michael Mayer and composer and orchestrator Tom Kitt.
“It is an honor and privilege to partner with such an incredible example of Broadway at its very best,” said CMJ Music Marathon Executive Producer Joanne Abbot Green. “Not only does our special presentation of American Idiot at CMJ 2010 continue our commitment to showcase the best that NYC has to offer in all cultural disciplines, it enables us to recognize the work of Green Day, who first blew CMJ audiences away at their debut CMJ event 17 years ago.”
During CMJ week, a select few attendees will receive tickets to see American Idiot at Broadway’s St. James Theater, which The New York Times called “invigorating, moving and thrilling,” and Rolling Stone deemed a “global knockout.”
As New York’s largest music event, and one of the world’s most important showcases of new music artists, CMJ Music Marathon draws tens of thousands of professionals from all sectors of the music and film industry. In over 75 venues across New York City, more than 1,200 artists and over 120,000 music fans converge on the Big Apple to discover the best in emerging music and film.
Since its inception, CMJ Music Marathon has featured many of the world’s most influential and revolutionary musicians, artists, cultural and political figures at a variety of events including presentations, screenings, Q&A sessions, panel discussions and, of course, live music performances.
