Rocking Under The Radar: Lunic

Musician Lunic | Eat Sleep Breathe Music

Lunic is the brainchild of violist/songwriter Kaitee Page. A native of Albany, NY, Page is a classically trained violist and self-taught pianist as well as a little bass and guitar. Inspired by a performance of the English alt/rock band Muse at Coachella in 2005, Page started her own band in 2008 in London, UK.

June 2008 Lunic released an EP called Splinter independently in the US & the UK. A collection of 10 unfinished demo songs from 2006/2007  entitled Skeletons was released digitally October 2008. Lunic’s highly-anticipated debut album, Lovethief, was released worldwide May 14th, 2009. The album, having been funded completely by Lunic fans worldwide via the crowd-sourcing website, Sellaband.com, gained Lunic national recognition and was interviewed by renown media outlets such as ABC’s Good Morning America and The New York Times.

Since the time of her ground breaking release, Lunic has received airplay on 100+ radio stations across America and Canada. In 2009, Lunic opened for Creed at SPAC and headlined LarkFest with Moby in Albany, NY. Lunic was chosen by Channel 103.1 as a Top 6 Finalist in the station’s Most Original Band Contest and the first single from Lovethief, “Him” was nominated for Rock Single of the Year by the LA Music Awards. “Him” was also chosen as a Top 3 Finalist in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition Rock Category, the GINA For Missing Persons Songwriter Contest and Mike Pinder’s (Moody Blues) Songwars Songwriting Competition.

Her music is a breadth of emotion. Lovethief is 11 tracks of love, hate, and everything in between. The incorporation of the viola creates a hauntingly beautiful and brilliant coagulation of rock and classical melodies. From start to finish you will be spellbound with Lunic’s rich, imaginative, and ornate music. There is not one song on this album that you will now like.

If you’re a fan of  Metric, Paramore, or the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, you’re sure to love Lunic. For more information on the band check out MySpace and get Lovethief now on Amazon.
