Allstar Weekend announced dates for their upcoming Verizon Experience The Magic Tour which will be hosted by Emily Osment. Allstar Weekend announced the first of their free shows, March 6 in San Diego, during their recent Radio Disney Takeover. Radio Disney premiered their new single, A Different Side of Me, which is featured on Radio Disney Jams 12 as well as on the soundtrack to and in the upcoming Nicolas Sparks film The Last Song starring Miley Cyrus. The video for A Different Side of Me premiered last week on Disney Channel.
Allstar Weekend formed while the four members were still in high school. Comprised of Zach (vocals), Nathan (guitar, vocals), Cameron (bass) and Michael (drums), the band wrote, produced and recorded songs and put them up on MySpace. The demos impressed Richard and Stefanie Reines, founders of Drive-Thru Records, who are now managing the band.
Allstar Weekend and its first single, “Journey to the End of My Life,” caught the attention of Radio Disney which added the band to its N.B.T. (Next Big Thing) programming feature, one that puts the spotlight on young unsigned artists and provides them with national exposure. The response was so positive that they were subsequently signed to Hollywood Records and are currently writing and recording their debut CD, expected this June. Allstar Weekend has already shared the stage with bands like Selena Gomez & The Scene, Justin Bieber, The Maine, Forever the Sickest Kids and Savanna.
