The Garden State band The Ugly Club has made some beautiful music together. Composed of Ryan Egan (v0cals/guitar), Taylor Mandel (trumpet/keys), Ryan McNulty (drums), and Michael Sue-Poi (guitar/vocals), Walter Wagner (trombone), and Adam Swider (bass), the sextet has created a strikingly unprecedented combination of soul and indie rock they describe as “Ray Charles meets Weezer meets The Beatles.”
The intermingling of blues with the excitement of horns gives their music a charismatic appeal. Add in a dash of rock n’ roll and the suave, sexy vocals of Ryan Egan and you have a sound that is cool, fun, and seductive.
Stand out tracks: “Step To Me, ” “Follow The Sound,” and “The Limbo of Sasha Ipei”
If you’re in NYC tonight see the band play an acoustic set at the East Village bar Angels & Kings. See the event on Facebook. For more information on the band go to their MySpace page and get their EP Sing What You Want now on !
