This week’s unsigned artist is Floral Terrace. The band comprised of Justin Olori (vocals), John Damiano (drums), George Bostonia (guitar), and Brian Millagram (rhythm guitar) hails from Haverstraw, NY.
After forming in mid 2008 they found themselves struggling to stand out in a sea of bands within in New York’s Hudson Valley music scene, however, the quartet’s perseverance paid off. In less than a year of them being together, the band has had the opportunity to tour around the country supporting acts such as Straylight Run, The Friday Night Boys, Every Avenue, and Envy on the Coast, Artist Vs Poet, Racing Kites, TV/TV, The Ready Set, Go Crash Audio, Backseat Goodbye, and Goot.
I was drawn to this band by their additively infectious hooks. The co-mingling of emotionally, burning lyrics with catchy upbeat guitar riffs and drumming creates a sound that is excitable and heartwarming.
Stand out tracks: “First To Leave,” “City,” and “Something Better.”
Check them out as SOTD and if you’re in NYC tonight go see them play an acoustic set at Angels & Kings in the East Village.
