Insomnia was what brought together southern electro-rock band, Paper Route in 2004. Chad Howat started putting music together when he couldn’t sleep. J.T. Daly a friend and old bandmate started coming over to sing, sample, and play a toy keyboard. After about a month they added a third man to the mix. Andy Smith another former bandmate came over to contribute vocals, guitar, harmonica, and synth.
After releasing two EPs: their self-titled EP in 2006 (Drama Club Records) and We Are All Forgotten (Low Altitude Records) in 2008 the band enlisted drummer and friend Gavin McDonald to join them for live shows.
Since that time they have played numerous live performances, had their music featured on the teen drama One Tree Hill and had their song “Last Time” was chosen to be the theme song for Nike’s 10k event, The Human Race
In 2008, they were signed to Universal Motown and took part in the Final Riot Tour where they shared the stage with Paramore, Phantom Planet, and Jack’s Mannequin.
There is something about the culmination of all the musical elements that takes a hold of all your senses. The atmospheric synth rock melodies paired with the high pitched, yet delicately spoken vocals creates a sound that is utterly hypnotic and powerful. Listening to their Myspace page some of the stand out tracks would be the string scratching, beat thumping “Gutter,” and the uptempo drum heavny ‘Carousel.” Paper Route has an awe-inspiring sound and is definately a band to watch.
The band is currently on tour with Paramore at select venues. Check out their Myspace page for more information and get their major label debut Absence now on and Amazon!
