This week’s unsigned artist is Highlines. The three piece rock band currently based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana is comprised of Derek Deblieux (guitar, vocals, keyboard), Danny Prince (drums, vocals, and percussion) and Johnny Clancy (vocals, bass, keyboard, and percussion).
I saw this band a last month at The Saint in Asbury Park, NJ for the Wave Festival. Watching their performance I was really intrigued by the trio. They rocked the place with their infectious melodies and rock riffs. I was quite impressed by the multi-musical talents of Johnny Clancy who played keyboard, guitar, and sang lead on vocals.
Their current album, 17 Reasons to Skip Town has great alternative rock sound with a twinge of southern flair. There is something so refreshing about their music. I love the vocals of Johnny Clancy. Some of my favorite tracks are “Hell or High Water,” “Running On Empty,” “Warning Signs,” “Insomnia” and “17.” With their catchy tunes, charismatic stage presence, and polished professionalism, Highlines are sure to make a name for themselves.
