One For The Team is an indie rock trio hailing from Minneapolis. The band began in 2006 when Ian Anderson needed an outlet for the pop songs that didn’t quite fit the aesthetic of this then band Aneuretical. After enlisting bass player John Krueger and drummer Elliot Manthey to complete the project they released Good Boys Don’t Make Noise. While it was well received, they remained largely a studio project until Anderson finished college. The band toured extensively and had gone through a few line up changes including the addition of Grace Fiddler, who sings in conjunction with Anderson on most of the recordings and live shows. Currently, the band consists of Anderson, Fiddler, and Manthey as the core of One For The Team.
With the band in place they released a sophomore LP Build It Up in 2008. This EP gave them notoriety on media outlets like NPR and SPIN.com. They went on to tour extensively, visiting 38 states and playing over 180 dates, sharing the road with acts like Dressy Bessy, Frightened Rabbit, The French Kids, and Someone Still Loves you Boris Yeltsin.
This past April, the band released their third studio effort Build A Garden. This is an 8 track EP comprised of 4 re-arranged and re-recorded songs from their recent LP Build It Up and four new songs.
This EP exudes a feeling airy enchantment framed by raw guitar riffs and powerpop melodies. With the first track “Questions and Panthers,” you are hooked on the harmonies of dual vocalists Fiddler and Anderson. They work perfectly together to create a delightful wave of cheery optimism. There is something really refreshing about this music.
