Hailing from L.A., Hollywood Undead is the notoriously wild, mask wearing, hip-hop/alternative band catapulted into the mainstream 3 years before releasing an album, thanks to the social networking site, MySpace.
In 2006, a year after the band formed, they became the top unsigned band with the most plays on their profile.
Another break came for the band in August 2008 when they won the “Book The Band” contest and got the chance to open the 2nd day of the Virgin Music Festival in Baltimore, MD.
A month later they released their debut album Swan Songs, giving them an even bigger following and additional industry attention.
Hollywood Undead’s music fuses the rock/rap sound cuts with a distinct hip-hop swagger and a brooding hard rock aggression that together evokes the sound of Linkin Park meets Eminem with a dash of Slipknot. The music is a bit silly, sarcastic, (and explicit at times) but always fun with lyrics about sex, drugs, broken romance, and the darker side of Hollywood.
Their fourth single and newest video “Young,” is featured as one of the 20 bonus downloadable tracks in Rock Band 2. Reminiscent of Linkin Park, the song has a stronger rock element than hip-hop feel and provides a quality sing-a-long chorus with skilled vocals and phenomenal harmonies.
The phenomenal video features pics of Hollywood Undead fans from across the world donning the band’s unique masks. A mere 48 hours after the call to arms went out for photos, 1700 unique fan submissions came flooding in to help the band create the video.
