Song of the Day: “Vicki” by The Tins


Today’s song is “Vicki” by The Tins. The Tins consist of Adam Putzer (guitar and vocals), Mike Santillo (keyboards and vocals), and Dave Muntner (drums). The indie/pop/rock trio have spent the past year writing and raising money to record their debut album. The Album, still untitled was recorded with producer Joe Blaney, who has worked with The Clash, Prince, and Modest Mouse. With the Album almost ready to be released, This is the first single off the band’s upcoming album.

Song of the Day: “Instrument of My Release” by Eamon McGrath


Today’s song is “Instrument of My Release” by Eamon McGrath. The 23-year-old singer has a culmination of genres. You could call him a folk singer, but he has a diverse musical styles ranging from bombastic, punk-inspired barnburners to quiet, intimate country music best fit for a Western saloon. He has accomplished a lot for someone of such a young age with two dozen albums worth of material, countless Canadian, UK, and European tours, and a stint in Daniel Johnston’s backing band. This song is off his full-length Young Canadians which came out earlier this month.

Song of the Day: “Time Goes” by Mombi


Today’s song is “Time Goes” by Mombi. Mombi is the songwriting duo of Kael Smith (guitar, vocals, percussion) and Matt Herron (keys/percussion). This track is the latest single off their album The Wounded Beat which was recorded and mixed by Keith Kenniff of Helios, Goldmund etc. The lyrics to “Time Goes” have interesting and familiar origins for the band. “The lyrics contain portions of a poem written by Kael’s grandfather Lynn Vanlandingham which appeared in a book he published in 1972 called ‘Alone I Wait.’ The song is essentially a collaboration between two different generations,” says Herron.

Today’s song is “Matchstick House” by Monroe. This song is off their new up and coming album that will be released early 2013. Monroe is the brainchild of Andy Clifford and James Bradley who had came together with a musical vision to write write music that was simple, catchy, riff driven and would reach a mass audience. With influences from from their favorite bands like Foo Fighters and Weezer, to Nirvana and Nine Black Alps they have created a sound that is pure lovable grunge.

Song of the Day: “Say You” by Imaginary Cities

Today’s song is “Say You” by Imaginary Cities. The two members of Imaginary Cities met at a club in Winnipeg, where Marti Sarbit was singing in a Motown cover band and Rusty Matyas was running sound. He wrote a song for her, they recorded it, and then liked the results so much that they made a whole album. This duo is sultry and soulful music charms the listener with it’s melodic pop rock only surpassed by the dynamic vocals of Marti Sarbit.

Song of the Day: “Don’t Bother You Much” by Gus + Scout

Today’s song is “Don’t Bother Your Much” by Gus + Scout. The band consists of Gus Wenner (son of Rolling Stone founder Jan Wenner) and Scout Willis (daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis). The two have known each other since childhood when they were neighbors in Idaho but only began playing music together about three years ago while attending Brown University.
