After an electrifying performance of The Black Parade in full at When We Were Young Festival, MCR is taking the iconic album on the road this summer for a limited, 10-city North American tour. That’s right — Gerard Way, Ray Toro, Frank Iero, and Mikey Way will be performing the album in its entirety at massive stadium venues, each night featuring a hand-picked special guest.
And for us here in Jersey? They’re hitting MetLife Stadium on August 9, 2025, with none other than Death Cab for Cutie and Thursday as special guests — a lineup that screams early 2000s alt-rock nostalgia in the best way possible.
Why The Black Parade Still Matters
Released in 2006, The Black Parade wasn’t just an album — it was a movement. Blending theatrical rock with raw emotion, it redefined the emo genre and solidified MCR’s place in music history. Rolling Stone even named it one of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time.”
Lead single “Welcome To The Black Parade” has since gone 5x Platinum, while the album itself is certified 4x Platinum. For many fans, it was more than music — it was a lifeline.
Now, nearly two decades later, the band is giving us a chance to relive it all — from the haunting piano intro to the arena-sized anthems that followed.

About My Chemical Romance
Formed in Newark, New Jersey in 2001, My Chemical Romance rose from the underground punk and emo scenes to become one of the most influential rock bands of the 2000s. Led by vocalist Gerard Way, alongside guitarist Ray Toro, bassist Mikey Way, and guitarist Frank Iero, the band fused theatrical flair with deeply emotional lyrics, crafting anthems of angst, resilience, and rebellion.
Their breakthrough 2004 album, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, catapulted them to mainstream success, but it was their 2006 rock opera The Black Parade that solidified their status as icons. With its bold concept, Queen-inspired instrumentation, and genre-defying ambition, The Black Parade became a cultural touchstone — earning multi-platinum certification and a place on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
After disbanding in 2013, My Chemical Romance reunited in 2019 to massive fanfare, igniting a global wave of nostalgia and drawing new fans into their orbit. Their music continues to resonate across generations — a cathartic soundtrack for outsiders, dreamers, and anyone who ever felt like they didn’t belong.
From underground emo heroes to arena-filling legends, My Chemical Romance remains a band that defined a generation — and continues to inspire the next.
