Today’s song is “Southbound (Live From San Antonio at Paper Tiger)” by MXPX.

This month MXPX dropped a surprise new live album entitled Southbound to San Antonio, with vinyl to follow. This album features 23 of the band’s live performances from their last show on February 29th, 2020 in San Antonio at Paper Tiger.

In addition to Southbound, the album features recent tracks, classics and fan favorites such as “Let’s Ride,” “Friday Tonight,” “Responsibility,” “Chick Magnet,” and “Punk Rawk Show.”

The release of Southbound to San Antonio hints at the band’s return to the “off-screen” stage in 2022 – to be announced soon. MxPx Frontman Mike Herrera shares his thoughts on putting the final touches on their latest Live album: Southbound to San Antonio:

“‘Listening back to this show gets me so hyped up to play live again. This show was literally the last live in-person show we did on February 29th, 2020 before the world changed. Playing this record is the closest thing to being right there squished in the middle of the pit.  Now we’re finally getting geared up to go back out and throw a party and play live on stage again! Viva la MxPx!!!

The band has been going strong through the pandemic connecting with fans through their live streams and new music releases. 2022 marks the band’s 30 anniversary. As a long-time fan, we are excited to see what MXPX comes out with next.
