Song of the Day: “Dominos” by Civil Union

Today’s song is “Dominos” by Civil Union. The group is made up of husband and wife, Naomi and Andrew from Edmonton, Alberta.

The Civil Union’s extraordinary sound was found out of happenstance more than by design. The duo was in the process of jumping into recording their debut self-titled album when their house—containing the files of all of their recordings—was broken into and robbed. The duo had to essentially start from scratch and created a more “expansive” version of the original album. They took risks, added new sounds, and came out stronger than ever.

Self-described as “Twenty-One Pilots meets ABBA,” this Canadian duo has a sound that is part dream pop, part alt-rock with an explosively contagious vibe that you’ll be singing along to in no time.
