Today’s song is “Mingaw (ft Debb)” by Optacure. The Queensland, Australia group is made up of the singer-songwriter Edmund D. Gemelo Jr.

Optacure is a fabricated word that means Optical Cure. It’s a philosophy of searching for a universal perspective. And this is what Edmund focuses on in his music. He looks to present different perspectives for the listener to ponder on.

He has been making music since 2008 and was a part of the bands Specerull and Bears in Peril. In 2015 he moved to Australia and started Optacure. His vision for Optacure is to be a constant collaboration with other artists as a way to explore perspectives across various genres.

The song takes on two perspectives of solitude: the lonely and the one looking after the lonely.

It was written, recorded, and produced in three different cities of two countries during the pandemic: the Sunshine Coast, Australia, Cebu City, and Quezon City in the Philippines.

This track features co-vocals from the artist Debb and has soothing acoustic melodies and dreamy effervescent shoegaze. The music wraps a blanket of warmth and emotional comfort all around you.
