The eve of New Year’s Eve I trekked in to the city to see Brooklyn-based The New Tarot. After a nice dinner at Carroll Place we crossed the street to the venue and made our way down to the show.
We got there with time before the band took the stage. The dark and smoky setting was a perfect backdrop to the sultry performance by the post-genre indie alternative group.
The New Tarot played a set filled with a good amount of their upcoming new album. The crowd was pumped and fell in love with them from the first few notes. They danced and sang along like they were having the time of their lives. They were deeply engrossed in The New Tarot’s fun and entertaining eclectic music mix of musical talents. The lead vocalists Monika and Karen harmonized wonderfully at times reminding me of Janis Joplin.
This band has such a wide range of musical styles they will appeal to music lovers of all types. They kept you watching with their entertaining vocal and musical talents.
They ended with their featured single “America” which left the crowd hungry for more. Unfortunately, there was no time for an encore.
If you have a chance to see this band check them out next time they play your town.
