This is the latest track from the psych-folk songstress, Alexa Wilding. It recently premiered on .
The song is off her upcoming new new EP Wolves. The album produced by Tom Beaujour (Nada Surf, Julianna Hatfield, The Mountain Goats) will be out on July 8th.
Wolves presents a shift from her previous celestial folk style, as the songs featured on the EP were written on a borrowed toy piano in the hospital while her son Lou underwent treatment for cancer. Thankfully Lou is now cancer free (woo!!), but the last few years served as an incredibly challenging time for Alexa — “I had yet to come to terms with being a new mother, let alone the crisis I was in the middle of, so I turned to the only thing I knew how to do. I wrote at night, to escape really, revisiting people and places I missed, reliving moments, life on the road, relationships, all pre-motherhood. The songs kept us company, I made peace with the past, and we both made it out alive.”
Alexa Wilding is a native New Yorker and has toured nationally with Au Revoir Simone, Ben Lee and Jennifer O’Connor. She also took part in Int’l Shades, an art-rock project with former Pussy Galore/Sonic Youth drummer, Bob Bert and Live Skull’s Mark C.
