Today’s song is “That Which Is” by Post Death Soundtrack. The Canadian inter-city music collective consists of Kenneth Buck, Steve Moore, and Jon Ireson.
Founded in Calgary in 2007 by Buck and Moore, the band now operates out of Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto using the magic of the internet to collaborate across the country.
The following year the Buck and Moore put out their debut album Music as Weaponry. The album was met with rave reviews from publications such as Industrial.org, Side-line Magazine and Sphere Magazine who called the record “a chaotic concoction of crossover madness” adding “this is the soundtrack to your escape from the average.”
Also that year, the group recruited bassist and producer Jon Ireson with whom Buck and Moore had shared various stages with in previous incarnations. Jon, in turn brought on Colin Everall to help out on piano and drums.
This Canadian trio makes intriguing music. Their eclectic fusion of psychedelics, electronica, pop, and industrial rock beats has created a haunting melody that is eerily inviting. They are the concoction of David Bowie meets Nine Inch Nails and Portishead. Their sound is not to be missed.
This song is off their upcoming new album set to release on May 27th. The album entitled The Unlearning Curve will be available for free download and also in a limited edition vinyl format.
