Song of the Day: “Pieces” by Kimia

Today’s song is “Pieces” by Kimia. This psychologist/singer/song writer was born in the Middle East, raised in London, and now resides in Dallas, Texas. Her music is inspiring and reflective. She not only is a beautiful songstress but also a seasoned violin player. She classically trained begining at age 7 when she began her school’s youth orchestra. She began songwriting as a communication tool in her teenage years and has been writing ever since. As a psychologist, Kimia enjoys studying human behavior and her lyrics often reflect her insights and observations of life themes that we all face and can identify with. She is passionate about music education and has developed her own course material for teaching music and songwriting for youth.

This song is off her upcoming release Lessons from Life and Love which will be out this month on October 16th. Her music evokes the likes of Norah Jones, Sade, Alison Krauss, and Sara Bareilles. She has a golden voice that melds into a beautiful piano beats that explores different life themes through a cool blend of pop, jazz, and middle eastern melodies.

This album was written and produced in India with local artists. These collaborations led to a world genre album and an electronic music album that will be released in 2016.
